Publication Series Item: Stigma Reduction
The stigma surrounding mental health and substance use disorders is a key factor in preventing individuals from seeking care and a significant barrier to appropriately resourcing behavioral health treatment. In order to identify and disseminate best practices in stigma reduction, the Foundation supported an in-house Stigma Reduction Fellow for two years. The Fellow developed several resources which organizations and individuals can use to debunk stereotypes and dismantle prejudices against individuals with behavioral health disorders in order to reduce discrimination and promote access to high quality treatment options.
