to impacted communities to direct resources and make funding decisions.

Mad Beatz Philly

Kensington Community Resilience Fund

The KCRF grant will help Mad Beatz Philly buy new drums, supporting the growth of the #djdrumline youth program; pay student section leaders to run additional, smaller sectional rehearsals between group meetings; and pay for rehearsal and new teacher training space at West Kensington Ministry.

About

Here are our goals:

  • Establish our #djdrumline youth development program as a citywide leader in preparing drummers ages 13 to 20 for careers in music performance and education
  • Leverage the intellectual processes inherent in developing individual excellence to build initiative, habitual improvement, and a growth mindset in our performers, using these workforce skills to pave their way to successful careers outside of music performance and education if they choose
  • Model the positive results of a growth mindset, collaborative effort, and responsible decision-making to younger performers under the guidance of successful alumni-mentors
  • Contribute to the diversification of Philadelphia’s music education workforce by training musicians to be teaching artists, creating an entry point for citizens of the Greater Kensington Community to access a pathway to teaching certification and the generational wealth that comes with a yearly salary, benefits, and retirement account

The KCRF grant will help Mad Beatz Philly buy new drums, supporting the growth of the #djdrumline youth program; pay student section leaders to run additional, smaller sectional rehearsals between group meetings; and pay for rehearsal and new teacher training space at West Kensington Ministry.
