Interim House will directly combat the overdose crisis and contribute to the healing process for women most affected.
Interim House Inc., a Philadelphia-based organization dedicated to supporting women to overcome substance use disorders, is honored to be awarded a Overdose Prevention and Community Healing Fund grant. Our program aligns with the Fund’s objectives on two key areas: overdose prevention and community healing. First, we will expand access to Narcan training and distribution for our staff and residents. This life-saving intervention bridges the gap between overdose and critical medical care. Second, we will train and empower our peer and therapeutic staff to conduct outreach in high-risk areas. Peer and therapeutic specialists with lived experiences and clinical training will connect with women struggling with opioid use disorder, build trust, reduce stigma, and guide them towards recovery options. Third, we will enhance access to on-site psychiatric services and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for our residents. This integrated approach will address both the underlying mental health conditions that often contribute to addiction and provide effective medication to manage cravings and withdrawal symptoms. By removing barriers to these critical services, we aim to increase treatment completion rates and empower women to achieve lasting recovery. Through this initiative, IHI will directly combat the overdose crisis and contribute to the healing process for women most affected.
