Our participatory funds alter traditional grantmaking by shifting power
to impacted communities to direct resources and make funding decisions.
We build public and private partnerships to administer grant dollars toward targeted programs.
We provide funds at below-market interest rates that can be particularly useful to start, grow, or sustain a program, or when results cannot be achieved with grant dollars alone.

In 2023, our goal is to continue to serve our Kensington community and reach more residents with critical needs for diapers, menstrual products, and adult hygiene products through community partnerships and our monthly Kensington Family Distribution Day.
Since the pandemic, the lack of diapers, period products, and other adult incontinence products has increased the adverse risk of infection and poor physical and mental health outcomes in kids, adults, and families. Families recovering from the pandemic’s job losses are facing yet another challenge to overcome. Last year, we distributed 2.5 million infant and adult diapers and 450,000+ period products, serving over 46,000 adults and children.
The Greater Philadelphia Diaper Bank (GPDB) spends over $25,000 per month to purchase products to meet the needs of our communities, which is in addition to the hundreds of pallets donated. $10,000 from Kensington Community Resilience Fund will be used to purchase these products, alleviating the need for several thousand more people and ensuring every family member is clean, dry, and healthy. Through continued partnerships and information shared across the board of more than 55 partner organizations, GPDB will identify unmet community needs for hygiene products and determine effective and sustainable ways to deliver products and services. In 2023, our goal is to continue to serve our Kensington community and reach more residents with critical needs for diapers, menstrual products, and adult hygiene products through community partnerships and our monthly Kensington Family Distribution Day.
