Our participatory funds alter traditional grantmaking by shifting power
to impacted communities to direct resources and make funding decisions.
We build public and private partnerships to administer grant dollars toward targeted programs.
We provide funds at below-market interest rates that can be particularly useful to start, grow, or sustain a program, or when results cannot be achieved with grant dollars alone.

Courage Medicine is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides dignified and integrated services and care with the aim of reducing health disparities. Courage to Heal focuses efforts in Kensington through an outpatient clinic that offers same day intakes for Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) along with behavioral health services, psychiatric medication management, primary care, wound care, and STI testing and treatment. Courage to Heal funds a Community Health Worker (CHW) and two part-time psychologists who provide trauma treatment at our Kensington clinic. Courage to Heal hopes to bring together community and professional understanding of complex, unmet needs in Kensington by providing support to individuals and families of people in substance use treatment or recovery, individuals who identify as LGBTQ+, people of color, those with limited English proficiency, people who inject drugs, people who engage in sex work, and people experiencing homelessness, poverty, or housing insecurity. Courage to Heal will promote and facilitate connections to behavioral health treatment and recovery services and will directly provide therapy to help heal individual and collective trauma related to substance use. Using best practices, Courage to Heal will center and address unmet needs related to substance use and homelessness for participants who have been marginalized and underserved.
