Ark of Safety LGBTQ+ Safe Haven (AoS) is a faith-based program in Philadelphia providing inclusive emergency housing and support services for LGBTQIA+ individuals facing housing insecurity.

About

Ark of Safety LGBTQ+ Safe Haven (AoS) is a faith-based program in Philadelphia providing inclusive emergency housing and support services for LGBTQIA+ individuals facing housing insecurity. Our program utilizes a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach, and we prioritize services for Black and Brown Transgender women impacted by homelessness, sex work, or substance use disorders. Our program will reach the community by conducting city-wide outreach efforts to identify and assist trans individuals who are vulnerable and experiencing homelessness or substance abuse issues. Through targeted outreach, AoS aims to connect with those in need, providing them with the necessary support and resources to improve their situations. In addition to outreach, AoS will enhance our nightly drop-in center services to provide basic needs assistance, referrals to other resources, harm reduction supplies, case management, and access to more comprehensive housing services. AoS will provide support group sessions and share educational material that is tailored to the specific needs of Philadelphia’s Trans community of color. The program intends to conduct regular educational sessions for other service providers in the city. These sessions will focus on raising awareness and understanding of the unique challenges faced by trans women in relation to homelessness. By educating service providers, AoS seeks to create a more inclusive and supportive network of resources for this population.
