Accompaniment Program and Immigrant Leadership Development

Community Fund for Wellness

The Accompaniment Program and Immigrant Leadership Development creates systems of healing and resiliency, builds community among various immigrant groups, and supports immigrants of color to organize collectively so that immigrant families can live full and complete lives with dignity and respect.

About

NSM’s Accompaniment Program and Immigrant Leadership Development is committed to supporting communities of color in Philly to create systems of healing and resiliency, build community among various immigrant groups, and supporting immigrants of color to organize collectively so that immigrant families can live full and complete lives with dignity and respect. NSM’s Accompaniment Program includes 3 central components: accompaniment to court and ICE, casework, and the Community Fund for Bond and Legal Support. Through court accompaniment work, NSM connects families with trustworthy legal counsel, helps them navigate the detention system, and offers them emotional support. Through casework, NSM helps people deal with domestic violence, seek wellness resources, prevent eviction, and pay essential utilities. NSM’s Community Fund is the only fund in PA run by immigrants to help immigrants get a family member out of detention or pay for legal fees. NSM’s Immigrant Leadership Development Program blends the skills and experiences members bring from their home countries with NSM’s unique faith-rooted and anti-racist organizing model. Programming supports immigrant leaders to find their voice and creates space for them to join a community of immigrant leaders fighting for systemic changes. All of NSM’s programs support healing and resiliency in immigrant communities by supporting members to collectively affirm their humanity and recognize that they are powerful change-makers.
